Mango Lassi
A velvety, chilled Indian yogurt-based drink blended with ripe Alphonso mangoes, cardamom, and a whisper of rose water.
Ingredients
Lassi
- 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and cubed (or 1.5 cups frozen mango)
- 1 cup full-fat plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup cold whole milk
- 2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/2 tsp rose water (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Ice cubes
Instructions
Prep the Mango
Peel and roughly chop the ripe mangoes. If using frozen mango, no need to thaw — it makes the lassi colder and thicker.
Blend
Add the mango, yogurt, cold milk, sugar, cardamom, rose water, and a pinch of salt into a blender. Blend on high for 60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
Taste and Adjust
Taste for sweetness and balance. Add more sugar if the mangoes aren't very sweet, or more cardamom for a stronger aromatic punch.
Check Consistency
If the lassi is too thick, add a splash more milk and blend briefly. It should have the consistency of a thin milkshake.
Serve
Pour into tall chilled glasses over ice. Garnish with a sprinkle of ground cardamom, a thin mango slice on the rim, and a few saffron strands for an authentic touch.
