Classic Beef Bulgogi
Thinly sliced, tender beef marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, quickly grilled or stir-fried to perfection.

Ingredients
Meat
- 500g ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1/2 Asian pear, grated
Marinade
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Serving
- Steamed rice
- Lettuce leaves
- Kimchi
- Green onions
Instructions
Tenderize
Massage the grated Asian pear into the thinly sliced beef. The enzymes in the pear will naturally tenderize the meat. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
Marinate
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and sesame seeds. Pour over the beef, ensuring every piece is coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight.
Cook
Heat a grill pan or cast-iron skillet over high heat until smoking. Cook the beef in batches so it sears rather than steams. It should only take 2-3 minutes per side.
Garnish
Transfer the caramelized beef to a serving plate and garnish with sliced green onions and extra toasted sesame seeds.
Serve
Serve hot with steamed rice, fresh lettuce leaves for wrapping, and a side of spicy kimchi.
