Classic Beef Burger
A juicy, perfectly seasoned beef burger with all the classic fixings.
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 500g ground beef
- 4 brioche buns
- Lettuce, tomato, onion
- Cheese slices
- Ketchup, mustard, pickles
Instructions
Prep the Beef
In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and pepper. Avoid overworking the meat, which can make the burgers tough.
Form the Patties
Divide the meat into 4 equal portions and form into patties slightly wider than your buns. Make a small thumbprint indent in the center to prevent bulging.
Preheat the Pan
Heat a cast iron skillet or grill over high heat until smoking. Add a tiny bit of oil to ensure the patties don't stick.
Sear the Patties
Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium. Don't press down on them with a spatula, as this squeezes out the juices.
Melt the Cheese
Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the pan briefly with a lid to help the cheese melt perfectly.
Toast and Assemble
Lightly toast the brioche buns. Spread your favorite condiments on the bottom bun, add the patty, then layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
