Ingredients
Churro Dough
- 1 cup water
- 2.5 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
Coating
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Chocolate Sauce
- 120g dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
Boil Wet Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat immediately.
Mix the Dough
Stir in the flour all at once. Mix vigorously with a wooden spoon until a smooth ball of dough forms. Let it cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
Heat Frying Oil
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 190°C.
Fry Churros
Pipe 4-inch strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting the ends with scissors. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Cinnamon Sugar Coat
Drain churros on paper towels for 30 seconds, then roll them immediately in a mixture of sugar and ground cinnamon.
Make Chocolate Dip
Heat heavy cream until simmering, pour over chopped dark chocolate, let sit for 1 minute, and stir until smooth and glossy. Serve alongside the warm churros.
