Tiramisu
The classic Italian no-bake dessert with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream.
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 500g mascarpone
- 4 egg yolks
- 100g sugar
- 300ml strong espresso
- Ladyfinger biscuits
- Cocoa powder
Instructions
Brew the Coffee
Prepare 300ml of strong espresso and let it cool completely in a shallow bowl. You can add a splash of coffee liqueur if you like.
Beat the Yolks
In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick. This is easier with an electric mixer and should take about 5 minutes.
Add Mascarpone
Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until completely smooth. Be careful not to overbeat, or the cheese may separate.
Dip the Biscuits
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee. It should be soaked but not falling apart—about 1-2 seconds per side.
Layer the Dessert
Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the top. Repeat with another layer.
Chill and Dust
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight. Just before serving, dust the top generously with high-quality cocoa powder.
